Show & Tell Friday - Awesome Comforter Set!!!

Wow! I'm on a roll today! I've done two posts in one day! Yay me! I wanted to participate in Kelli's Show & Tell Friday, but have let time slip away from me so many times. Well, I made a point to find something today to show off. Last year, when we decided to combine the girls in one room and split up the boys two to a room, a friend told me her neighbor had bunkbeds for sale. When she contacted her, the neighbor told her that if someone would be willing to come and get them that they were free! Well, of course we quickly cleaned out our van (at the time) and headed over to load them up. First, she wanted me to come see them and make sure they were what I needed (like I was going to say no?). So, I went to check them out and lo and behold, I got more goodies! She was trying to get rid of as much stuff as possible before moving, so she offered me two boxes of movies for the kids and two small containers of army men and action figures. But, the best was this comforter set and five extra decorative pillows to match (I had the purple ones already)!!!!! She said they were downsizing to a full size bed, so it had to go. The only thing wrong with it, was the dust ruffle was torn. My aunt fixed it for me, and it's good as new! Not to mention, it's a Croscill comforter, which are well made and really expensive! What a blessing!

When the boys' room looks decent enough to take pictures of, I will post them so I can show off the solid wood bunkbeds that we got for free!!!!

Show & Tell Friday - Garage Sale Finds

It's been a hectic day, but I had to try to join in Kelli's Show & Tell Friday! It's been a couple of weeks ago, but my next door neighbor had a garage sale and when she does, she usually gets rid of Home Interiors items (she's a consultant) at ridiculously low prices.

I had always wanted the fruit candle shade, but didn't want to pay the $12.99 price for it. She had a different one out (rooster, I think) and I asked if she had the fruit one. She went in the house and found it and sold it for $2.00!!! Brand new, in the box, still available through Home Interiors!!! I was too thrilled! But, it gets better. The candle is usually about $5.00 each, but she was selling them for $1.00! Her sister-in-law sells Mary Kay and had the lipgloss for $4.00. Retail price is $14.00, so I saved $10.00! Whoo-hoo! Yay me! :)

I saved the best for last........

I've always wanted this table, but didn't want to pay the whopping price tag. I don't even remember exactly how much it was originally, but she sold it for $15.00, which I knew was a steal! It's sitting in the kitchen right now, but I plan on staining it to match the cabinets. I've been using it to hold school papers and homework items, like notebook paper, pencils and crayons. I'm so thrilled with my finds!

Marriage Blessing - Show and Tell Friday

Today for Kelli's Show and Tell Friday, I wanted to share this cute print that I got at Texas Thrift store. Yes, the price in the upper right hand corner is correct---$1.49!!! Then to top it off, it was 50% off!!!! You heard me! I paid more for the easel that it's sitting on ($1.00 @ Dollar Tree), than for the framed print! The mat is a lighter shade of plum that matches my bedroom (one day I'll clean it for picture taking purposes), which is plum and gold. The best part is the poem itself, which reads:

A Marriage Blessing

We thank you, O God, for the
Love You have implanted
in our hearts.
May it always inspire us to be
Kind in our words,
Considerate of feelings, and
Concerned for each other's
needs and wishes.
Help us to be Understanding
and Forgiving of human
weaknesses and failings.
Increase our Faith and Trust
in You and may Your
Prudence guide our
life and love.
Bless our Marriage, O God,
with Peace and Happiness,
and make our Love Fruitful
for Your Glory and our Joy
both here and in eternity.

How beautiful is that?

My Dream Machines

For this week's Show & Tell Friday post, I finally get to show off my "dream machines" that I got earlier this week!!! Having a large family means doing a lot of laundry. So much that it was too much for my washer & dryer that came with the purchase of our house. It's only three years old and still in good working condition, but the supposed "extra large capacity" dryer couldn't handle the extra large loads I put in it. I would have to dry the clothes at least twice, if not
three times. This would cause a HUGE backlog of laundry. I researched several brands and read countless reviews. The majority of the excellent reviews belonged to the Electrolux brand, as well as Samsung. We went with the Electrolux set and I couldn't be happier! Although I wanted the turquoise sky color, I settled for white because it was cheaper (hubby's suggestion). For consolation purposes, I had the room painted turquoise instead! Once I get the laundry room (if you want to call a closet a room) decorated, I'll take pics! Happy Friday!!!
